Get to work planning!
This time of year, the days are visibly longer and you can see the sun making its annual trek north. On January 24, sunrise starts to peek through the curtains on my north side windows signaling an inevitable end to winter. This is a joyous time! Spring is coming!
But mostly, it's when I get antsy to get the garden season moving. Right now, I'm cleaning up and organizing my greenhouse and storage areas, and sorting seeds for Auntie Nannie's Seed Exchange.
Another clue that it's garden planning time is that texts, emails, and phone calls are coming in asking about seeds, plants, seed swaps, plant sales, The Book - all the gardening things. You guys are antsy, too!
It's time! Get out your garden journal, scour your seed catalogs, check out my CSA Shares of starts and seeds, and start dreaming of juicy tomatoes, sweet lettuce, zucchini fritters, and baked winter squash.

The Book!
A Monthly Guide to Growing a Sensational Garden in Northern New Mexico and the Rocky Mountains has been published!
I am taking orders for pick-up in Taos and the region. The books should be here around February 6. That's a ballpark date so stay tuned.
Order here for pick up or delivery in Taos only! Price includes tax and handling.
If you don’t live in Taos and would like a signed copy, order here. I will mail it to you and calculate shipping at that time.
Once the books have arrived, I'll be planning signings and other events. That's all up in the air until the books are in hand, sorted, mailed, and you know... all that BS paperwork...
You can also order directly from the publisher:

Gift Certificates, Love, and Plants!
Like I said last month, I don't gush over holidays. But may I inspire you to give a gift of plants, seeds, and The Book for Valentine's Day? Gardeners need things in winter, too! I'll have seeds and The Book in time, but you'll have to get a Gift Certificate for a CSA Share of plants.
Spring and Summer CSA Shares are ready at the right time for planting. Plants are hardened off and ready to go in the ground. New this year are Red Iceberg Lettuce (a thousand times better than iceberg from the supermarket!) and Green Zebra tomatoes (a tasty green stripey change of pace for a salad).
You can get a bundle of Renee's Garden seed packets for spring and summer planting, and for the second year now, Renee's Garden Scatter Cans in several varieties.
If you need raised beds and outdoor furniture, we've got that, too!
Any gardener, be that lover or friend, will appreciate a Gift Certificate any time of year!

Evan, a new customer of mine, had a plot at the community garden at Not Forgotten Outreach last summer. He sent me some late season photos! I see borage, a couple kinds of kale, chard, sunflowers, corn, zucchini, green onions, broccoli, cosmos, marigolds, and a whole lot more! Get inspired!
